The Apple

Oh there once was this guy
He lived kind of nearby
He had an apple in his eye
She was taller than me
And I know you'd agree
One look at her and you'd just sigh
Whenever time was going slow
He'd look at her and then it'd go
Real fast
Like sunlight through my window glass

When he found out her name
Things were never the same
Each piece of paper would proclaim
That he loved her and he'd
Hope to never be freed
Head over heels he had no shame
I know that some of you might say
He's head over heels anyway
But that's
The saying and it has a past

I bet they'll make a new expression when they find out how he feels
Till then we'll just get our impression from the papers and newsreels
I bet she'll change her sad expression when she finds out how he feels
Till then she'll just keep the impression that that's how the apple peels

In another time zone
Someone else was alone
No same genetics but a clone
Knew the apple as well
Once was close but he fell
Just when the tree became full grown
I know it never falls so far
But this time the apple had a car
And drove
Right through this song and to a star

I bet they'll make a new expression when they find out how he feels
Till then we'll just get our impression from the papers and newsreels
I bet she'll change her sad expression when she finds out how he feels
Till then she'll just keep the impression that that's how the apple peels

So when life gives you apples
Make some apple juice
And if you get foie gras make a goose
Stop comparing apples
To the oranges
One bad bunch can spoil you

I bet they'll make a new expression when they find out how he feels
Till then we'll just get our impression from the papers and newsreels
I bet she'll change her sad expression when she finds out how he feels
Till then she'll just keep the impression that that's how the apple peels
